WE SAY
Lee Eller is a young singer and songwriter who was born and raised in New York. Growing up as an only child, she threw herself in to music discovery, and began writing her own songs which she performed at local venues, even though she often wasn’t old enough to be in them. Then, much to the shock of her family and friends, she uprooted to Tel Aviv after a chance visit to the Middle East and enrolled in a music school to soak up the thriving scene that’s developing there. It was this adopted home that proved the inspiration for much of her debut seven-track EP Wrote To You (due May 25) and this song is one of the three single releases that precede it. It’s beautifully minimalist, ethereal and almost heavenly, reminding us of Birdy at her most introspective and is said to be sort of open-ended letter inspired by several events in her life. As well as working on a remix package for the EP, she’s now moved back to New York and is scheduling shows, not just for the US, but across France, Germany and the UK too. This delicate track is an exquisite introduction to her work.
