We are big fans of Isle of Wight singer-songwriter Lauran Hibberd, having featured her multiple times over the last 12 months. Now signed to independent label Brilliance, her latest single, Call Shotgun, is a furious blast of infectious indie-pop contained within 170 seconds of fun. Drawing on '90s indie guitar pop and the energetic punk energy of the '70s, Call Shotgun is lyrically about being young and foolish in this day and age. The track has already garnered praise from The Line Of Best Fit, Breaking More Waves, and frtyfve as well as featuring in Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist last Friday. Previous tastemaker support has come from the likes of Clash, Earmilk, Crack in the Road, Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and John Kennedy. Having performed at Liverpool Sound City, Common People, and the Isle of Wight Festival recently, she will be playing her debut headline show in Southampton this Thursday (5 July). This is, quite simply, playful indie pop at its best.
