Wanna Go Back
Kira
WE SAY
If, like us, you adore classic songwriting with hints of ‘80s melancholy and lush synth production, then you really do need to check out London-based duo Kira. Consisting of Katie (formerly of woozy electronic act Ritual) and Will (from synth-rock duo Crystal Bats), the duo have released this, their third single and first of 2019 last Friday (17 May). Co-written with Justin Parker who wrote Lana Del Rey’s Video Games and Born To Die, as well as Stay with Rihanna and Laura with Bat For Lashes, Wanna Go Back is a gorgeously warm and wistful ode, recalling Tango In The Night-era Fleetwood Mac. It was immediately added to Spotify UK’s New Music Friday playlist, as well as their All New All Now editorial playlist and surely will be added to further mellow contextual playlists soon. Further tastemaker support has come from the likes of BBC Introducing, Noisey, Wonderland, i-D, Indie Shuffle, and DIY Mag among others. With a sound that's instantly engaging and familiar, yet fresh, Kira are crafting their very own space in today's musical landscape and we defy anyone not to fall in love with Katie's vocals.
