Milkshake

Kelis

Virgin

WE SAY

Neptunes never cease to amaze us. They’re classic ‘one sound’ producers but time and time again they manage to dazzlingly reinvent that sound. Milkshake is the track that Pharrell has said will change hip hop for good. Maybe – it’s certainly fresh and massive, getting huge love from the specialists and surely a Radio 1 A list before long. The topline is insatiably hooky after a couple of listens, with a perfectly judged lyric. Kelis has always enjoyed major profile in the UK, where she remains with Virgin, and now she has the team in place to achieve the same in America – Puff Daddy as her manager and the Neptunes’ Star Trak label, through Arista, as her US label (not to mention Nas as her fiancé).
