Hole In The Heart

Karine Polwart

Shoeshine

WE SAY

Karine Polwart's solo debut Faultlines swept the board at the Radio 2 Folk Awards last year, winning her a best newcomer award in the process. Her sound has been compared to Natalie Merchant, but we hear fond echoes of Aimee Mann on this melancholic yet uplifting track. This is the opener from her second album, Scribbled in Chalk, a lyrically strong and beautifully constructed progressive folk album. With the right support, it should veer her towards the mainstream audience that she richly deserves. JF Video
