Stick To The Lie (Whistle Back Remix)
Karin Park
WE SAY
Swedish-born artist Karin Park is a big favourite of ours and her rather wonderful Apocalypse Pop might just be one of the great overlooked albums of 2015. Packed full of quality songs, including former Record of the Day selections Look What You’ve Done and the moving Human Beings, it includes co-writes with Jim Eliot (who’s worked with Ellie Goulding and Rae Morris), Zero 7 (who used to count Sia amongst their ranks), and Dave McCracken (whose credits include Florence and The Machine and Ian Brown). Now comes this dramatic remix of another track from that album, crafted by German producer Whistle Back, who’s normally associated with a heavy deep house sound. Here though, they manage to draw out Karin’s voice to great effect, retaining the melodic pop side whilst enhancing it with a blissed-out feel that turns it into a defiantly hypnotic track. With continued tastemaker support from Dummy, Vice, Noisey, Clash, i-D and Wonderland, we reckon it’s time for everyone else to revisit Karin’s work and see just what you’ve been missing out on all year long.
