Kah-Lo
WE SAY
Released last Friday (August 11), this lead debut from 24-year-old Kah-Lo was instantly picked up by Radio 1’s key trio of weekend tastemakers, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard (who made it his Future Anthem). The Nigerian-born artist first came to our attention as the featured vocalist on last year’s enormous Rinse & Repeat by Riton, a track that ended up among Radio 1’s 10 most played songs of 2016, achieved 400,000 sales, 35 million streams, and even picked up a Grammy nomination. Producer Riton is back at the controls on this ridiculously infectious summer jam that sounds built for global success. We adore the old skool Detroit electro influences running throughout, neatly overlaid by a vocal hook based on a childhood Nigerian playground game which Kah-Lo remembers from back in the day. This coming weekend the duo will be performing this at V Festival, then play SW4 on Clapham Common over the Bank Holiday. Addictive, with bags of energy and earworms flying at you from every direction, it's a tune destined to be massive at carnival, then through into party season.
