The Spark
Kabin Crew & Lisdoonvarna Crew
WE SAY
Having clocked up over 350m views on TikTok and a further 3.5m views on YouTube since it dropped on social media on 15 May, ‘The Spark’ featuring Lisdoonvarna Crew by Kabin Crew has become a massive viral success. What started as a spontaneous burst of creativity at Kabin Studio, a non-profit youth rap project in Knocknaheeny on the northside of Cork City, featuring 30 children aged 9 to 12 from the area plus a group from Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, has captivated the attention of millions of listeners and creators/tastemakers worldwide. With its wholesome and positive bars, backed by a high-octane and infectious drum’n’bass energy, the track and story has been featured by the Guardian, DJ Mag, Mixmag, New York Times, Time Magazine, BBC, NME, RTW, Irish Examiner, Irish Independent and many more. Along with shoutouts and support from Stormzy, Tove Lo, McFly, Hospital Records, McLaren, Red Bull Racing, Aston Villa and more. Watch the video here. Yesterday (13 June), ‘The Spark’ was officially released via Rubyworks/95 Records and has since been featured on new release programming and drum’n’bass/dance playlists at DSPs. Later today, Kabin Crew will also appear at Becky Hill’s show in Cork at Musgrave Park. With the track being picked by TikTok as one of the Songs of the Summer and praise from numerous tastemakers, it’s all shaping up to become one of the summer’s most infectious anthems.
