For those of you wishing for some summer sun as the winter cold starts to set in then we may have the track for you. St Tropez from cousinly-duo JY MNTL, pronounced Jay Montel, brings a vibrant dose of Caribbean influenced R&B to the mix. Having worked with Varren Wade (Ella Mae, Stormzy, Wretch 32) and Sons of Sonix (Wretch 32) on their previous releases, which have clocked up over 1m streams, Shaun ‘Hypertone’ Barrett takes the helm as the producer on this addictive Afrobeat number. DJ Target supported the track with its first radio play last month, and this week the duo will be interviewed on Reprezent and Fubar radio as they take their music to schools this month. Further tastemaker support has come from Music Crowns, who premiered the accompanying video, beautifully shot in Cannes and St Tropez. Watch it here. With fans in Young Adz (D-Block Europe), Rotimi, and Yxng Bane, JY MNTL are already quickly winning over peers as well as new fans with their catchy melodies and soulful blend of Afrobeat, trap and R&B. 2020 is looking to be a promising year for the south London duo and their Afro vibes.
