Julian Velard
WE SAY
Brooklyn-born Julian Velard’s debut EP The Movies Without You is released on London label Lucky Number, who are getting in the habit of becoming an early platform for an international spread of critically acclaimed acts (Sebastien Tellier, Keith and Seventeen Evergreen being among their previous releases). Picked up by Zomba for publishing, Velard's EP proceeds plans for EMI label Charisma, where he was signed by Elias Christidis. Joni showcases his ear for melody, original voice and fun multi-instrumentation which runs through the EP - Jimmy Dean and Steve McQueen (which you can hear on his MySpace) also stands out. Catch him at one of his three London shows next week. JF London gig: September 10, Soho Revue Bar, W1
