Joon Moon
WE SAY
Released on Kwaidan Records (set up by Nouvelle Vague mastermind Marc Collin), Joon Moon are Frenchman Julien Decoret and Krystle Warren, originally from Kansas City. The duo formed in Paris early in 2015, initially intending to be just a studio project, and this track is one of four featured on their debut EP Chess. Prior to all this, Warren had collaborated with acts including Hercules & Love Affair and Rufus Wainwright as well as releasing solo albums. However a creative meeting of minds between her and Decoret has manifested itself into something wonderful. A second EP is being lined up for March and they’re received an invitation to play SXSW that month from radio station KCRW, who’ve been keen supporters to date, along with radio stations in France and BBC 6 Music here in the UK. An album is planned for next autumn too. You can almost imagine the great Dusty Springfield singing this - moody, chilled piano chords set the late-night tone before leading way to an emotive and passionate chorus refrain declaring ‘I’ll never never never never leave you’. Totally sublime.
