WE SAY
Sweet Defeat is the title track from Jon Allen's second album, produced by Tristan Longworth, who was also behind his 2009 debut album Dead Man’s Suit. That album was funded purely from income generated by 20,000 downloads of previous RotD Going Home, which was featured on a Landrover ad campaign. The surprise breakthrough album yielded five Radio 2 playlisted tracks, a spot on Later... with Jools Holland and led to a publishing deal for Allen. Sweet Defeat continues Allen's form for quality song-writing, and sees him tap into the soulful side of folk, reminiscent here of classic Van Morrison.
