My Sweet Rose
Jim Moray
WE SAY
Three years ago Jim Moray's debut album was released to widespread critical acclaim. He won two 2004 Radio 2 Folk Awards, best newcomer and best album, for his renditions of traditional English ballads on Sweet England. This is the sweeping, building new single from his forthcoming self-titled album, and it trembles with passion. Embellishing his powerful voice (reminiscent of Holly Johnson on this occasion) with all manner of orchestral arrangements, we were completely won over. Radio 2 and 6Music support is building. JF London gig: Album launch, 26 April - Madame JoJo's.
