WE SAY
We do love a good country-tinged song here at RotD, and over the years, we have championed many artists before it all became such a big thing in the UK. ‘Red Flag’ by Janet Devlin is the latest song we can’t get out of our heads, and it’s not only us either. Radio 2 has recently featured the song on their playlist, alongside a host of regional and specialist radio shows. It’s one of those joyously infectious tunes, full of Americana hooks, a sing-a-long chorus, and gorgeous soul-stirring vocals. Co-written with Jamie Sellers (Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Little Simz) and Kaity Rae (GIRLI, Beth McCarthy), the track features on Janet’s forthcoming new album ‘Emotional Rodeo’ (out tomorrow - 15 November). Recorded at Martina McBride’s Black Bird Studios in Nashville with producer Roo Walker, the album sees Janet work with a distinguished ensemble of collaborators and musicians from the Nashville scene. Previous singles from the album have seen her pick up support from Capital, Heart, The Sun, The Irish Post, The Irish News, and Metal magazine, to name just a few. If you would like to hear more, Janet will be singing songs from her album at 6pm tonight (14 November) on TikTok.
