Wasn't Expecting That
Jamie Lawson
WE SAY
When was the last time a UK artist had a hit single and Top 10 album in Ireland, all the while remaining under the radar in the UK? Signed to independent Lookout Mountain in the UK, a sudden and unexpected raft of YouTube hits and media support (Today FM plays, a Late Late Show performance and more TV followed ) in Ireland has boosted Plymouth-born Jamie Lawson to the top of the iTunes charts there. What makes it more remarkable is that the track is a demo version which Lawson uploaded to YouTube at the start of last month. The single charted at No3 in the Irish charts on Friday after a rush release the Monday before, and the album continues to sell well on iTunes over there. The single is now expected to be No1 this Friday. Published by Imagem Music, we think it won't be long until more are taking notice the artist Hot Press are calling 'the country’s new David Gray'.
