There is something inherently beautiful about the hazy sounds and whispered tones of singer-songwriter James Billet’s debut offering Faith Over Family. Having been signed to Rocket Management by Elton John himself ten years ago, James experienced the highs and lows of major labels and publishing before walking away from it all to write and release the music he loved. Faith Over Family is a tender affair, full of lush, warm production from Pete Henderson (Supertramp, Paul McCartney) and musicianship as James’s soft vocals reveals the story of a young gay man whose father puts his beliefs above his love for his son. Accompanying the heartbreaking narrative is this stunning video, cinematically filmed on location in Iceland. Tastemaker support has so far come from Clash, Essentially Pop and numerous blogs, plus radio support already from BBC Solent and BBC Radio London. With a vocal tone sitting somewhere between James Taylor and Ray Lamontagne, James has created a wonderfully touching and powerful ode for a strong return as a singer-songwriter.
