WE SAY
There's a solid plot building all round for last week's Compass-featured Jakwob. Early online buzz for Fade, featuring the distinctive vocals of up-and-coming singer-songwriter Maiday, culminated in a No. 1 Hype Machine placing, with an impressive 150k plays to date on Soundcloud, launching the track into the iTunes top 75 on pre-order a month away from release. Press to date has ranged from style (Vice, Dazed) to tabloid and broadsheet alike. Already B-listed at 1Xtra, the track is now Sara Cox's 'Big Thing' following specialist support from Annie Mac, Mistajam, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens on Radio 1, with Kiss, Xfm, NME and Q Radio also on board. This laid-back, piano-driven soulful house cut is made for radio, with a dark, slickly-produced video to match. Expect big things.
