Break It Down

Imperial State Electric

Psychout Records / Sound Pollution Distribution

WE SAY

Nicke Andersson, former frontman with Sweden’s award-winning band The Hellacopters, formed Imperial State Electric in 2009 and they released their fifth studio album All Through The Night last September to rave reviews in the music press around the world with Classic Rock, Metal Hammer and Rolling Stone among it supporters. It debuted inside the Swedish Top 10 and was No.1 on the Swedish vinyl chart that week. The band performed in London just before Christmas at Camden Underworld, and soon begin dates across the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Denmark. This track (a duet with Linn Segolson from Stockholm-based The Solution) takes their traditional sound spinning off on a tangent, embracing the sort of melodies and harmonies that you’d more likely associate with The Eagles or an artist like Tom Petty. As is often the case, we love finding unusual nuggets that fully deserve wider attention beyond their traditional home. And this feel-good slice of driving country rock is both retro yet timeless in equal measure. It’s just simply a great track.
