I Am featuring Allegra
WE SAY
With sweet soulful vocals from London based-singer Allegra, this confident solo single from rapper and artist I Am is the launch pad for a whole new youth platform this spring. As former members of UK urban trio First Place, both Yomi Mason Davies and Allegra perforrmed deeply personal songs about Yomi’s childhood spent in care and time in prison as a young adult. Now as I Am, he’s launching a website and multi-media destination for young people to come together and discuss music alongside fashion, culture, their passions and motivations, all with a mission that they can positively influence one another. With a remix from garage star TS7, the song conveys the uplifting thought that even when things are at the bleakest, people can still find the strength and ability within to turn things around. With a national school tour and live dates planned to spread his message of hope, I Am is a fine example of the power for change that music can instil in people and we applaud him for that.
