Hotel Mira
WE SAY
Continuing our look at artists you need to see at the Great Escape festival this week is the Canadian band Hotel Mira. Having formed after frontman and songwriter Charlie Kerr met bassist Mike Noble at a Battle of the Bands event and guitarist Clark Grieve and drummer Cole George through the Vancouver music scene, Hotel Mira produces alt-rock music that vaults between neon-trashy garage rock to festival-sized pop hooks and glam-bop balladry. With a series of albums already behind them and over 20m combined streams, including editorial playlist features on Spotify and Amazon Music, the band have released this woozy, alt-rock gem ahead of their UK dates this month. Having recently finished a 19 date Canadian tour, they played the Moth Club in London last night (13 May) and will now play three shows at the Alternative Escape this week. On Thursday they will play two shows at The Secret Comedy Club (14.00 & 20.20) for The Impressive/Planetary Showcase and then on Friday at the Grand Central (11.30) before heading back to London for a show at the Victoria Dalston on Sunday.
