Released last Friday (September 8), Pointless by Salford vocalist Hatty Keane is one of the most grandiose and cinematic masterpieces we have heard all year. With echoes of David Arnold, John Barry and Shirley Bassey, the track effortlessly merges sumptuously rich orchestral movements with bold instrumentation and edgy, sophisticated pop to glorious effect. Hatty’s vocal talents shine throughout as they gorgeously caress and soar with this ambitious, confident and utterly mesmerizing song. Written, produced and recorded in studios across Sweden, Pointless sees Hatty refining her sound and identity after having toured with the likes of Rudimental, Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding since she was 16. Having gained tastemaker support from Clash who premiered the track, Hypefresh and Vents Magazine it won’t be too long before others follow suit and it wouldn’t surprise us if a TV or film sync agency does too.
