Yorkshire lass Hannah Trigwell became a worldwide YouTube sensation after deciding to upload her music online a few years back whilst studying at university and busking. 70m views later, and with more than half-a-million followers across various platforms, she’s now self-released this gem that’s got instant appeal, simply by being a quality song. Remaining quietly and confidently understated throughout, the lack of flashiness works in its favour as her beautiful folk-tinged vocal and personal lyrics are all driven along by a quietly uplifting dreamy pop soundbed that reminds us of many of our favourite releases that we’ve featured in recent months from the Scandi music scene. Hannah’s aiming for the global market rather than remaining parochial in her outlook and we fully applaud her for doing so. Already tipped for success by national press and TV, she’ll embark on a handful of UK dates soon, including a London headline date with recent Radio 2 favourite Kelvin Jones at The Barfly on May 11, ahead of a Great Escape show on May 19. No mistake, this girl is superb.
