Hate Or Glory
Gesaffelstein
WE SAY
Best known for his uncompromising Kanye West collaborations on the Yeezus album, in particular Black Skinhead, Paris-based DJ/producer Gesaffelstein makes beautiful, brutal techno-noir as visceral as it is cerebral. Premiered as a Hottest Record by Zane Lowe earlier this month, the pounding beats of Hate Or Glory first hit you somewhere north of the solar plexus, fizzing directly and simultaneously to the parts of the brain controlling emotion and motor function. Like its predecessor Pursuit, Hate Or Glory is accompanied by a jaw-dropping video directed by Fleur & Manu, receiving over 300k views in its first week. (Note to RotD readers not normally inclined to click through for videos: today is the day to change that.) Further Radio 1 plays come from Phil & Alice, Rob Da Bank and Fearne Cotton, while a glut of gushing press including a 9/10 album review from Mixmag suggests we're right to be this excited about forthcoming album Aleph, due for release on October 28. Hold onto your diaphragm.
