WE SAY

Today’s Ones To Watch is the brilliant London-based R&B trio FLO. Stella, Renée and Jorja first came to our attention when they dropped this sublime gem, produced by MNEK, as their debut earlier this year - it recently became a No.1 TikTok sound in the UK, hitting a peak of over 400k daily creations globally. Since then, the group have seen their star rise with each consecutive release, including the RotD-featured Immature and their debut EP, The Lead. Influenced by Mary J Blige, Aaliyah, Brandy and Whitney Houston, the trio have drawn praise for their ’00s nostalgia-tinged take on R&B pop from stations including BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, as well as publications such as Complex, i-D, Dazed, NME, Nylon, Rolling Stone and GRM Daily. They've also received co-signs from SZA, Victoria Monét, Missy Elliott, Kelly Rowland and Sugababes, to name but a few. At DSPs, their music has amassed over 70m combined streams and been added to numerous editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. Apple Music also chose them as their Global Apple Up Next artist for October, while Cardboard Box was fan-voted as Spotify’s Who We Be “Song of the Summer”. With 700k followers across all major social media channels, including 8m creations and 4bn views on TikTok, the girls have built a loyal following that has seen them be nominated for Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards 2022, Best Female Act for Rated R Awards and win the Artist To Watch award at the Guap Gala Awards 2022. This year has also seen them perform on the US TV show Jimmy Kimmel, PinkPantheress’ Boiler Room, Later with Jools Holland (acoustic) and the Glamour Women of The Year Awards, as well as sell out their first ever headline show at The Outernet, with 2,000 tickets sold in a minute. We have missed seeing an R&B girl group in the charts and believe with their energy, fearless attitude and sweet grooves, FLO has what it takes to take the world by storm. It’s not only us tipping them either - VEVO has named them as one of its 2023 DSCVR Artists.
