Espa ft. Giggs
WE SAY
Beautifully chilled and with a classy, seductive feel throughout, this quality track from Espa is the first single from her since the EP LG60, which was released in the summer. Her musical talents emerged and grew when she first entered the Purcell School Of Music before going on to study jazz at the Royal Academy Of Music. You can hear that latter influence here in her wonderful vocal performance. The sound is neatly juxtaposed with a verse rap from Giggs and the moody production from collaborator Erick Arc Elliott of Flatbush Zombies adds an extra dimension to it all, melding the worlds of hiphop and classical to fine effect. Mistajam at 1Xtra led the way with this at radio, premiering it on his show as his Jam Hot Extra selection and support has also come from influential online blog Pigeons & Planes. Filled with soul and with lyrics that are pensive and personal, it's a song with so much going on under the surface (just like the swan in the artwork), but is graceful and elegant with it all. You can’t fail to be impressed.
