WE SAY

Last month, Washington DC singer songwriter Eric Hutchinson's self-released album Sounds Like This was featured by US entertainment blogger Perez Hilton, which boosted it to No 4 on the US iTunes albums chart (making him the highest-charting unsigned act in iTunes history), it having made an earlier entry at No 1 on the Billboard New Artist/Heatseekers chart. We know that label interest has been heating up on both sides of the Atlantic, and deservedly so. Musically it takes a direct line from his influences, of which Billy Joel and Ben Folds Five are the easier to spot. JF
