My Kinda Swag
Emmi
WE SAY
We’re seriously impressed with this delicious debut from Emmi. It’s a slice of minimalist electro-tinged soul from Emily Green who was originally from Devon, via London and now Australia. She was previously a songwriter for the likes of Little Nikki before deciding to launch her own career as an artist. Strongly influenced vocally by greats like Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys and even Kate Bush and with production from collaborator Jarrad Kritzstein, it’s a seductive and slinky modern R’n’B groove that lets her glorious vocal and lyrics shine through by being perfectly stripped-back and magnificently structured. It kind of creeps up on you, drawing you in with every passing bar until you end up wanting to play it on a loop for the rest of the day. Oh, and that chorus is an absolute corker. Coming seemingly out of nowhere, we think you must be deaf if you don’t think this track has all the hallmarks of a potentially unstoppable worldwide smash within the next six months, surely?
