WE SAY
There is something bittersweet about Eliza Newman's beautiful songs. Her toy like arrangements (which Eliza plays all parts of) coupled with heart tugging vocals make for arrangements that would make for great film syncs. Formerly of Icelandic girlband Bellatrix, Eliza has been a lead singer since the age of 16 and has already enjoyed a career littered with variety and critical acclaim. Bellatrix released four albums on Bjork’s Bad Taste label, signed to Fierce Panda for their fourth album, co-headlined a tour with Coldplay and co-headlined the Carling stage at Leeds & Reading festival before splitting up in 2001. Since then her prolific songwriting talents have seen Eliza sing in Skandinavia - the band not the region - and play in the Trubatrix Movement before going on to release her first solo album in 2007. Eliza's single Ukulele Song For You topped the Icelandic National radio charts in 2009, her track Eyjafjallajökull picked up over 250,000 YouTube hits after been featured on Al Jazeera news channel in 2010 and her two solo albums to date have been met with critical acclaim in Iceland. Out Of Control is an inbetween release as Eliza works with producer Gisli Kristjansson on a new album.
