WE SAY
Back in April, we sang the praises of 21 year old Cork-born artist Eiza Murphy and the deliciously dark pop ode Bat and Ball. Having impressed us, along with the likes of Earmilk, LeFutureWave, Music Crowns and RTE 2FM, she is now back with her follow up. Released on Friday and featuring on Spotify UK’s New Music Friday, Movies is a slick and hard-hitting ode with production from REBENN. Written while she was living in London during the last UK lockdown, the track sees Eiza contemplating escapism and imagining how her life would play out in a movie. It’s a sumptuous blend of alt-pop and R&B with hints of vintage soundscapes that is fitting for New Pop and Alt-pop playlists. Clearly showing a knack for evocative storytelling and a sublime vocal, Eiza Murphy is one artist that needs to be on your watchlist if she isn’t already. Brilliant stuff.
