I Still Think of You
EEVAH
WE SAY
Coming in at just under six minutes, ‘I Still Think Of You’ is the hauntingly beautiful single from alt-indie trio EEVAH. Comprised of Nicole Hope Smith (vocals, bass), Fay Clayton (drums), and Embrace guitarist Richard McNamara, the Halifax-based group combines the moody atmospherics of The National, Wolf Alice and The XX with the shimmering indie pop energy of Haim and London Grammar. Released today (30 January), and produced and engineered by McNamara at Magnetic North Studios in Halifax, this powerfully emotive ode was written in a cloud of grief following the passing of Nicole’s grandmother. From Richards' U2-esque chiming guitars and Nicole's haunted vocals, the track builds with intensity, evolving into a grand sonic opera of opposing guitar riffs, rolling drum rhythms and expansive percussion. Part lament and part post-rock apocalypse, ‘I Still Think Of You’ is a stunning song, and in a world where it’s rare for a track to go over three and half minutes, it is great to hear music on this epic scale and length. Taken from their new EP, ‘I Didn’t See It Coming’, the track deserves spins on 6 Music, Radio 1, Radio 2 and Virgin FM, alongside additions to new release programming, new alternative and mournful/sad-themed playlists at DSPs. It also wouldn’t surprise us if it is picked up for sync opportunities on TV due to its nature. Previous tastemaker support has come from 6 Music and Radio 1. Having supported Everything Everything, Duran Duran and We Are Scientists, EEVAH will be heading out on a headline UK tour at the end of March, including a show at Two Palms in London on 28 March.
