Intimate, haunting vocals, underpinned by a pulsating beat and rumbling bass were all that were needed to hook us into this wonderfully ethereal and mesmerising dose of dark electronica by British musician ECKOES. Taken from her forthcoming EP produced by David Ezra and released last Friday, Black & Red is a gorgeous and sonically rich release tailor-made for dark R&B and chilled playlists, as well as for sync opportunities in TV, film, and adverts. Her previous singles, including S.B.F and Pieces, which we featured, have garnered tastemaker praise from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Clash, Q, Wonderland, Indie Shuffle and Afropunk among others. Recently she performed two live shows with Grammy Award-winning producer Naughty Boy (Emeli Sande, Sam Smith) after being spotted by him earlier in the year. Beautiful and futuristic, Black & Red hits that sweet spot of industrial and otherworldliness. Simply spellbinding.
