DRIPPING DOWN
EAST INDIA YOUTH
WE SAY
East India Youth's stunning debut album Total Strife Forever is so emphatically the sum of its parts that to lift a single song from it seems almost criminally unfair. So please think of today's RotD Dripping Down - the follow-up to October's doleful Looking For Someone - as a plea simply to buy the album when it comes out on January 13 and then hibernate with it until at least March. Ranging from ambient and avant garde to Detroit techno and glistening poptronica like the sublime Heaven How Long, Total Strife Forever is an ambitious and immersive record that was three years in the making by one man, William Doyle, who then passed the finished album to The Quietus' John Doran and in so doing gave birth to a record label. Noisey are premiering Dripping Down today, press has come in from the NME, Guardian Guide and Q among others, while Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens both have sessions on the way. Having just finished a brace of dates with Factory Floor, Doyle heads out on his own headline tour in late January. Do yourself a favour and book now.
