Surging Memories
Du Tonc
WE SAY
The product of a chance encounter in a Paris basement club, NYC-based Du Tonc are UK producer/DJ Mighty Mouse and Matthew Van Schie (of Sydney band Van She), whose disco gumbo is turning out to be rather tasty. Seminal electronic label Cheap Thrills have served up two choice cuts to date, the first of which, Darkness, featured in Tensnake's Radio 1 Essential Mix in February, pulling in 130k Soundcloud plays and a number two placing on Hype Machine. Deep and shimmering disco-pop follow-up Surging Memories layers succulent synth lines on meaty bass, crunchy guitar licks and live drums, drizzled over with Van Schie's honeyed vocal, and is already approaching 100k plays in three weeks. A live/DJ tour of Europe, North America and Mexico kicks off in June, ahead of a fully live show planned for the end of the year. Remaining unsigned for future records, Du Tonc are believed to be talking to a number of US labels and management companies. Michelin-starred melodies.
