DRIIA

Ministry of Sound Recordings

WE SAY

Starting this week’s Ones To Watch 2025 is the exciting electronic producer, topliner, and artist DRIIA. Since bursting onto the scene in 2022 after completing her music technology course at university, the classically trained pianist and singer caught the attention of artists and songwriters with her mix of jungle, breaks, and trip-hop. This led her to work with Jax Jones, Rudimental, Interplanetary Criminal, LF System, Brad Ellis, Belters Only, Icona Pop, and Neiked. At the end of 2023, she signed to Ministry of Sound and was picked by Danny Howard as one of Radio 1 Dance’s Future Stars for 2024. She first came to our attention when she dropped her second single of 2024, the brilliant ’90/00s breaks and strings-infused number, ‘A Little Life’, which was synced on BBC Scotland’s Scottish Prem’s Match of the Day and used as the walkout track for the England Women’s football team at Wembley. Last Friday (29 November), she dropped this stunningly emotionally charged exploration of heartbreak, jealousy, and pain. It’s a brilliantly passionate release, marking an evolution in her sound that blends emotional depth with striking sonic textures, string accompaniments and ethereal vocals. Alongside her own material, DRIIA also co-wrote Rudimental’s single ‘Green & Gold’ featuring Charlotte Plank, which hit Radio 1’s B list and Capital FM playlists, as well as chart in the top 30 on the Official Charts. Recognised as one of Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Artists this year, with playlist cover support, she has also received editorial support at Spotify and Apple Music. We love her sonic exploration and blend of old-school breaks and D&B vibes with her exquisite vocals and emotive lyrics. Old-school dance enthusiasts and modern clubbers will find much to love here, but we also feel there is a wider appeal too, making her one to watch.
