WE SAY
Detlef Zoo are a four piece pop rock outfit from Latvia that caught our attention on the upcoming Popkomm programme. Radio hits in their home country have brought them to this point and Funny Girl was a track that stood out for us - it has an ironic and delightfully naive sting in the lyrics that we find endearing. We were first reminded of the soft rock moments of Extreme's work on first listen - the other tracks on their MySpace attest to a keen ear for melody and a rounded repertoire. Producer Andy Gill (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Young Knives, Futureheads) has been working with them ahead of their second album and the results are well worth paying attention to.
