Dear Georgiana is the new solo project of Brooklyn-based Southern belle Lauren Balthrop, who releases her eponymous debut album through Tummy Touch on May 20. A founder member of feted New York trio The Bandana Splits (who found fans in Lauren Laverne, John Kennedy and garnered much press acclaim), Balthrop later spent time as a backing vocalist for Ximena Sarinana while working on songs for her solo release. First single I Wanna Be In Love is a summery, radio-friendly pop track redolent of Camera Obscura, She & Him and even early Cardigans, while the more downtempo album cuts showcase Balthrop's country roots, evoking Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. One for balmy summer nights.
