Gonna Make My Own Money
Deap Vally
WE SAY
Bonding over crochet hooks in a needlework class wouldn't necessarily be the go-to place you'd expect to unearth tomorrow's rock luminaries, but that's where we should have been looking. The obscure meet place of California's Deap Vally birthed early demos which spread across music blogs, culminating in a mass of industry heat as the girls injected some much needed angst into the blues again. Debut single - Gonna Make My Own Money - is currently one of the most played tracks on Radio 1 specialist, and will be followed by a Radio 1 Maida Vale session due to be broadcast late August. Some of the strongest press support in the UK has come from NME Radar, The Guardian ‘New Band of the Day’ and Sunday Times Breaking Act. Expect the momentum to build as the duo spend more time in the UK over the summer playing Reading & Leeds Festivals, and 1234 Shoreditch, before a busy winter will see a UK and European tour with The Vaccines, showcasing at CMJ in October and playing Japan as guests of Thurston Moore and Dinosaur Jr. Video.
