From Nowhere
Dan Croll
WE SAY
One of the biggest surprises about this year's BBC Sound Of longlist was the absence from it of genre-busting Liverpudlian singer-songwriter Dan Croll who, as you may have gathered by now, we are big fans of here at RotD towers. He did make it onto virtually every other Ones To Watch list, including Spotify, VEVO, iTunes and Xfm, and interestingly his top track on Spotify - today's featured song From Nowhere - has had more plays than any of the Sound Of artists by some margin. No doubt that's due in large part to a packed 2013, which saw him selling out headline shows at home and in the US, supporting Haim, Bastille and Chvrches, being playlisted at Radio 1, 6Music and Xfm, and synched to Grand Theft Auto, FIFA 2014 and a Toshiba advert. Early support comes from longtime champion Huw Stephens, with spins from Phil & Alice, Xfm and BBC London, with a C-list addition at Radio 1 on Wednesday. Dan joins London Grammar on their February dates before heading out on his own headline tour throughout March. We're excited to hear more intelligent alt-pop on Dan's debut album Sweet Disarray, out on March 10.
