WE SAY
It’s now a couple of years since Cub Sport first emerged from Brisbane, Australia with their debut EP Told You So. The four-piece, led by singer and songwriter Tim Nelson, quickly found friends in the UK on their initial promo trip, landing evening playlist support at XFM, plus sessions with John Kennedy at the station, and with Dan Roberts at BBC London. Over the next twelve months, they continued to impress with buzzy live sets at The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Music Matters Singapore, London’s Calling in Amsterdam, and multiple packed rooms at New York’s CMJ Music Marathon. Now comes their third EP, Only Friend, and our featured track closes the five-track offering in style. Musically, it’s a driving slice of melodic indie pop with lofty ambitions and anthemic qualities throughout. Firmly building on their sound to date, expect this great track to become a gig highlight when they return next to tour these shores.
