You & I

Crystal Fighters

Zirkulo / PIAS / Atlantic

WE SAY

British/Hispanic synth-folk act Crystal Fighters' highly anticipated sophomore album Cave Rave, conceived over two months in their Basque Country spiritual home and gestated in LA with the help of producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Air, M83), is birthed this week and already proving to be as precocious as its predecessor. Energetic lead track You & I, a loved-up acoustic ballad fusing folk, African dance and psychedelia, is a former Zane Lowe Hottest Record and a current Big Thing for Greg James now sitting on the Radio 1 B-list, while its trippy, Elliott Sellers-directed video is approaching half a million views in one month. Press for the album runs the gamut from music titles to tabloids to broadsheets. Last week's Koko show, which sold out last October, was one among 70 dates scheduled globally this year including a Festival Republic headline appearance at Reading/Leeds, and the band - never ones to be accused of doing things by the book - have just announced a one-off all-nighter in August, fittingly taking place in a cave deep in the Basque hills just outside Pamplona. With special guests yet to be announced, the cave rave will continue well into the following morning.

London gig: O2 Brixton Academy, November 22
