WE SAY
The debut release from LA-based record label Quality Time Recordings is an EP titled & The Childhood Heroes from Count Counsellor. He’s a ridiculously tall 21-year old who grew up in Australia but spent most of his recent years in the UK and the four tracks take us on a journey through a myriad of youthful musical influences and memories. You’ll hear bits of house, soul, '80s pop and disco in there, Basically everything that’s shaped him into the musician he is right now, partly thanks to hearing that mix of styles and sounds played by his brother who’s been a DJ since the late '90s. The second track Disco Dodo features engaging falsetto vocals, a warm summery vibe and that fabulously funky electro-synth bassline that helps propel it along so perfectly. Remixes and UK gigs are promised soon and there’s been much praise and support from Huw Stephens and Mistajam at radio on top of love from tastemaker blogs including Noisey and Stereogum. Prepare to fall in love with this and we expect, like us, you can't wait to hear more from him.
