WE SAY
With a delicious classic retro vibe right from the off, this upbeat, sparkling pop confection from Citizens! is taken from their forthcoming album, European Soul and comes as an 'instant grat' when ordered. The track, which Huw Stephens premiered last week on Radio 1, is expertly produced by George Reid of AlunaGeorge and mixed by Mark Ralphs, fresh from his success with Years & Years and Clean Bandit. Together they both give it a slick, modern feel whilst allowing it to wear those exceptionally cool Tamla-esque influences firmly on its sleeve. After their successful run of sold-out gigs at London’s Village Underground a few months ago, they’re set to play XOYO on April 16 as part of a short tour that also takes in several other European cities. The band say that the theme and message for the album overall is that we should never be resigned to the way things are right now and should strive to continually push forward. We wholeheartedly echo those sentiments, of course, and this gloriously optimistic track signals the fresh and exciting path ahead for the band.
