WE SAY

Four years ago, we spotlighted emerging singer-songwriter chloe moriondo in our Ones To Watch 2021. Since then, the US star has gone from strength to strength, releasing her jittery pop-punk fuelled second album ‘Bad Bunny’ and her glossy pop-sounding third album, ‘SUCKERPUNCH’. With her 2023 ‘Hell Sounds’ EP and 2024’s ‘September’ (from Life Is Strange Double Exposure), chloe has amassed over 500m combined streams and has received support from DSPs, Radio 1 and tastemakers like The Line Of Best Fit, Dork and more. Now, the Detroit native is gearing up to release her fourth album, ‘oyster’, on 28 March. Written with a close-knit team of co-writers and producers, including Jonah Summerfield (Holly Humberstone, Tommy Lefroy), Chloe Kraemer (The Japanese House), AfterHrs, and more, chloe has crafted a fresh sonic identity, drawing from her diverse musical influences to explore themes of heartbreak, lost love, self-knowledge, and adulthood. The album’s first single, ‘shoreline’, dropped last month and quickly captured attention, earning multiple plays on Radio 1’s Future Artists and landing the cover feature on Spotify’s Our Generation playlist. Yesterday (19 February), chloe followed it up with ‘hate it’ – a strangely vibrant yet eerie indie-pop track laced with macabre humour. Watch the video here. Marking a bold new turn, ‘oyster’ is shaping up to be a defining album for chloe, and with ‘hate it’ she has another gem on her hands.
