We can’t get enough of this bombastic concoction of fierce pop, slick R&B and hip-hop meet rock vibes from London-based artist Chinchilla. It seems we are not the only ones either. After previewing the track on TikTok earlier this month, her account went from 16k to over 250k followers in a week and generated over 16m views. Last Friday (21 April), the track was immediately added to editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music and YouTube upon release. Since then, it has amassed 3m+ combined streams, 400k+ YouTube views and continues to be used across socials. We shouldn’t be surprised by this as we were blown away by her debut EP Awakening in 2020 and her ability to blend multiple genres to create something for herself. Little Girl Gone marks a new independent era for the artist but we reckon this is only the start of something bigger. Radio 1’s Jack Saunders is a big fan, and tastemaker support has come from Fader, Notion, and Hunger, to name just a few. This is a forward-thinking artist forging her own way with genre-bending and addictive earworms.
