Feel Every Minute
Charles Costa
WE SAY
Charles Costa or the artist previously known as King Charles as many of you may know him dropped this dynamic and experimental blast of alt-pop last week. With hints of the Beatles in the underlying keys motif alongside heavy doses of Imagine Dragons' bold production and echoes of the Scissor Sisters' quirkness, ‘Feel Every Minute’ is an adventurous and intoxicating listen. Taken from his forthcoming self-titled studio album on 24 January, the track deserves spins at 6 Music and Radio 1, alongside additions on alt-pop left-of-centre editorial playlists at DSPs. The album, recorded over a six week period at an arts centre housed in a former US Air Force base in Suffolk with musicians Jesse Quinn and Tom Hobden, sees Charles tapping into a tapestry of sounds, which includes everything from ’80s electro-pop to hymnal devotion via pastoral folk, with echoes of the likes of Bon Iver and RY X. We can safely say, from an early sneak peek of the album, that it is a glorious affair, rich with bold ideas, touching lyrics and exquisite musicianship. A must listen.
