Better In Leather
Cerebral Ballzy
WE SAY
Being anointed 'the coolest band in the world' by Julian Casablancas might be about as self-fulfilling as being named 'the most recently knighted human being' by the Queen, but Brooklyn-based hardcore/punk band Cerebral Ballzy actually have the tunes to justify the hype. Now signed to Casablancas' label Cult Records and with Dave Sitek on production, things have really turned a corner for them. A recent Hottest Record for Zane Lowe, Better In Leather hits you like a size twelve to the chest; Phil & Alice also made it a Single of the Week, Mike Davies had them in session, and there has been solid support at Xfm and Amazing Radio too. The Guardian, which has been energetically scratching its head over questions of authenticity since 2010, made the track Single of the Week on Saturday, while the NME invited the band to headline their Radar Tour in November. Better In Leather and Be Your Toy, also a Hottest Record in August when the band played Reading/Leeds, will both be included on the band's debut album, due in early 2014.
