WE SAY
We're always a bit of sucker for an emerging, enigmatic duo, doing slightly left-field electronic pop, and Cash + David certainly fit the bill. Based in London, they share all writing, production and mixing credits across their material, the sound of which is both retro '80s but very much forward-thinking too. This track features a vocal line not dissimilar to the great-Laurie Anderson's seminal O Superman from 1981. Yet the grinding guitar and sexy synth-based hook that really grabs your ear here could only be from the here and the now. There's a supremely stylish video for the track, too. Shot in black and white and featuring female Johnny Cash and Bowie lookalikes, engaging in a rather sensual dance-off. Support so far has come from many key tastemakers including DIY Weekly, The Line of Best Fit, The Independent, Hilly Dilly and The Music Ninja. Radio plays have come from Jen & Ally at Radio 1 and both Lauren Laverne and Mary Ann Hobbs at BBC 6 Music. File this one under 'intriguing'.
