C Duncan
WE SAY
One name has been coming back to us repeatedly from many of our trusted contacts recently as an artist to follow with great interest. C Duncan has just released his remarkable debut album Architect and this song throws a spotlight on why it could be a leading 2015 Mercury Prize contender, we reckon. Recorded and written alone in his Glasgow flat on a bedroom studio set up, it's meticulously and painstakingly layered, undoubtedly helped by his background as a classical-trained composer and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate. Stunning broadsheet reviews are just the tip of the iceberg. Radio support includes Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens, Radcliffe & Maconie, Steve Lamacq, Clive Anderson on Radio 4’s Loose Ends and more across 6Music and Amazing Radio. Recent live gigs at The Lexington, Somerset House (supporting Belle & Sebastian) and at Latitude have seen his newly-formed live band showcase the music so perfectly. Next, he joins The Blue Nile for a special Edinburgh Festival performance and new London shows are promised soon. Heck, this is life-affirming stuff.
