WE SAY
With buoyant hooks, funky guitars and punchy horns, ‘f.w.u’ is the new single from emerging London-based alt-pop band bumb. Drawing inspiration from the 1975, The Japanese House and Tyler, The Creator, the trio, consisting of multi-instrumentalist and frontman George Rose, bassist Jamie Hayes and drummer Louis Rodney, produce a finely distilled dose of vibrant alt-pop. Formed in 2020, the band dropped their debut EP, ‘you're not worth an album, so here's an EP’, the same year and have just followed it up with this energetic gem that explores themes of finding your voice in a noisy city, surviving a cost-of-living crisis all whilst still trying to find the time to live and enjoy the finer things in life. Recorded at The Crypt Studio in London, the song is a brilliantly catchy number that will have you tapping your feet and bouncing around wherever you are. Perfect for spins on shows on Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X, along with adds to alt-pop/pop and feel good playlists at DSPs, ‘f.w.u’ is a song that will put a smile on your face and a spring in your step, and in times like these, it’s always good to have tracks like this. Next week, they will be heading out on a six-date tour of the UK, culminating in a show at the Hope And Anchor in London on 16 November, having previously sold out show at the Dublin Castle earlier this year. One to watch.
