Oh My
Boo Seeka
WE SAY
We continue our look ahead to some of the acts we recommend you check out at The Great Escape this weekend - today it’s Australian duo Boo Seeka. They’re an act that are starting to make waves and their first three singles Kingdom Leader, Deception Bay and Fool all featured prominently on the Hottest 100 countdown of 2015 on tastemaker radio station Triple J, even outranking songs by Tame Impala and Florence & The Machine. Although their sound features hip-hop driven beats, you can’t fail to notice a much-more layered, textured, soulful feel to this track. Currently working on a full-length debut album with producer Ian Pritchett (which should be with us around September), they’re in the UK for a bunch of shows including a showcase at Sticky Mike’s this Friday (May 20), a sold-out London gig next week (May 25) at the Old Blue Last, and rounding things off at Liverpool Sound City on May 28. Of all their releases to date, we reckon this is their best. Instantly accessible and curiously addictive, that chorus just gets under you skin and will have you hitting play repeatedly all day long.
